A perfect assessment by Muralitharan

Muttiah Muralitharan, the bowling legend of Sri Lanka who is now playing for Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the IPL season 4 stated on the eve of his team’s match against Rajasthan Royals that RR is equipped with top quality players and also after a couple of defeats they will put a desperate fight for a come back and hence Kochi Tuskers should keep that in mind while playing the match. The out come of the match of April 24 held at Sawai Mansingh Stadium, Jaipur proved Muralitharan’s assessment as perfect.

Murali said that he was happy about his bowling at Eden Gardens against KKR but, was unhappy that he didn’t get the chance to play in the matches against Mumbai Indians and Chennai Super Kings. According to the Sri Lankan cricket stalwart, in the first five matches played by KTK, the team has proved that they have the potential to win over even the more powerful teams. He attributed their victory against KKR to team performance. According to Muralitharan, even a team with the best players of the world should keep fighting tremendously when the match becomes tough. Murali lamented that in their initial two matches they lost in the few final overs though they were very much on the winning position.

Muralitharan expressed satisfaction over the settlement reached by Sri Lanka Cricket Board and BCCI regarding the stay of Sri Lankan players in India till the end of the IPL Live tournament which will enable them to concentrate on the game. He fully agrees that preparation is a must prior to the England tour and is optimistic that the players will have sufficient time for the training since they will return to their country eight to nine days before commencement of the Test series in England.
